Notice a plagiarized post? Tell us about it in the comments

Those fishy folks at Fish Creek House, they're just darn hard to keep up with! Every time I check in to see what plagiarized prose they've posted again, it's almost overwhelming. It would be practically a full time job for any one person just to document the amount of plagiarism coming out of the Fish Creek House blogs.

So, how about this? For anyone who is as annoyed by these yoyos as I am, if you see a post of theirs with evidence of plagiarism in it, just mention it in the comments. Include the URL for the Fish Creek House blog post, and the URL for the website that it most looks like they took the content from. That way we'll just keep a running list, here in the comments.

I'll kick us off.

"Inn The Zone" posted Sept 26, 08 (http://fishcreekmt.blogspot.com/2008/09/inn-zone.html) appears to be largely taken from Black Enterprise Magazine: Inn vogue: running a bed and breakfast is a tough business, but one that can succeed with the right plan.

Here's another one:

This doesn't actually seem to be doing anything but letting thieving Cid Busarow know on which posts we find her stupid plagiarism. If she is at all aware of this blog, she visits, sees where we found the new stuff, deletes or goes private for a couple of days, long enough for the bloggers she stole from to be sort of satisfied she's removed the plagiarized posts, then she goes public, still with many of the same stolen words in her archives.
What I think I will do now is simply let the people she's stolen from be aware that she's done it, then contact her blog administrator or web host, the BBB in her town, any place there's a spot to review her inn I'll post the stolen posts and sites, etc. I wish something like this awesome watch site would shame her into changing the thieving, but it doesn't really seem to be doing that. Perhaps if she's caught by surprise, like Mimi above slammed her with talk of suing. I hope Mimi does pursue that, I wish more writers were angry over Cid Busarow's stealing of THEIR memories and memoirs and stories. Nothing is sacred, not a dying family member (she'll rename them "Chad"), not a beloved pet (it becomes a horse), a passed-on spouse (becomes the still-living Dan), a well-loved spot in your own back yard becomes her creek or inn where she "git's 'er done!" Gah, sickening. Anyway, I'm through warning HER, she's had enough chastising and reminders and pointings-out. From here on, I notify writers and she can hopefully be blind-sided.

okay, after reading this:

I see the true value of posting her thieving here. The desired result is to get the thing to stop, and if she eventually has to pull every post not hers, that will stop it. Still going to do the other, also, but will post things here, too, to drive up the google results!

Another blog:

http://manker.wordpress.com/

It's like whack-a-mole. One blog gets taken down, another one pops up.

As unconscionable as this is, I can't help but wonder if all the attention is just feeding her sickness (and her SEO rankings). Based on this review of her B&B, the theft and lies are not going to help her business (ignore the positive review she wrote herself):

http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g45403-d551427-Reviews-Fish_Creek_House_Bed_and_Breakfast-Whitehall_Montana.html

Seems like she's determined to dig her own grave and is just looking for help... Sad.

and another one... This is almost too unbelievable for words!

Of the "keep a watch on" list to the right, the first is now permission only, the second has been deleted, the third is permission only.
They're in my reader, though, so all posts still show and are readable (the newest posts on two were plagiarized, bloggers notified before her posts went missing or private), and I'm sure the two private will be back sooner or later. Still keeping a watch...

And back she is.
This post

is stolen from
http://www.heartlight.org/articles/

there are more, of course, as she opens her archives back up, but that's word for word, blatant, garden variety plagiarism right there.

notified Mike Barre (?)(dang, don't remember his name, but it's there on his article) of her thievery by email, he mailed back and said a thank you, he was going to contact her, and hours later her post is gone. whee. one down, hundreds to go.

Even her comment on this post:

Is plagiarized:

her new post
http://manker.wordpress.com/2008/11/14/the-montana-chronicles/
stolen from
http://honeybee2won.blogspot.com/2008/02/diary-of-iowa-winter.html
it's not a total ripoff. She did substitute the word Montana for Iowa.

Here's a good one. Recent too.
